Like the other buildings where the Bundesbaugesellschaft has been in charge of building and refurbishment, the Paul Löbe House has also been equipped with novel and environmentally friendly devices. For example, the local combined heat and power plant is one that runs only on renewable energy - rape seed oil - which means that it is crisis-free, and, being a combined-cycle heat and power plant, is very economic, and relatively pollution-free.

In response to the energy conservation concept of the government, the planners developed a 3,230 m² solar energy plant for the Paul Löbe House. Its solar modules are integrated into the design of the segmented roof, and also function as shading elements, reducing the effect of direct sunlight. The solar energy panels are only able to produce a small proportion of the energy required in the house, so the main part of the energy supply comes from the local combined heating and power plant, while peaks of demand are met from the public utility grid.
